Time for a quick history lesson for my friends who care about more than sports. Over the weekend, I visited
Chartwell, the home of
Sir Winston Churchill, who was the Prime Minister during (and again after) World War II. It's just over 30 miles from London, but a world away in terms of peace and quiet. From decades before he was Prime Minister up until his death in 1965, Chartwell was Churchill's escape from the world and where he wrote and painted while enjoying the Kent countryside.

Atop a hill and surrounded by gardens & fields. |

Churchill could look out this window from his desk. |
